Hurghada International Airport received its first Munich direct flight Thursday with 200 tourists on board. The plane was received with a water salute, and the passengers were greeted with flowers by officials at the airport.
The flights will arrive on weekly basis, and another direct line to Marsa Alam will begin Friday.

With tourism at its highest since 2010, Travel News has added Hurghada as a tourist destination. The German website announced a direct flight line from Geneva to the popular Red Sea destination for the 2018/2019 winter season, Al-Ahram website reported.
From October 28 onwards, the airline will generally expand its flights from Geneva. Flights to Hurghada will be available on Saturdays between October 13 and December 15, and on Sundays between December 23 and March 30. Thomas Cook, one of the largest tourism companies in Egypt, announced on Sunday that 500,000 tourists will visit the country in 2018.
Egypt’s Thomas Cook agent chairman, Moody Al-Shaer, said that the company had experienced a 50 percent surge in bookings during the first half of 2018, particularly to Red Sea destinations such as Hurghada and Marsa Alam.
“This is the first FIFA World Cup that the Pharaohs have qualified for since Italia 90, and Egypt — Experience & Invest is determined to use this opportunity to showcase in a modern way the rich and rewarding diversity of tourism experiences that our country offers,” Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat said, reported a FIFA press release.

The annual Gallup Global Law and Order asked if people felt safe walking at night and whether they had been victims of crime.
